Hooray! Nothing changed! Mitch McConnell still leads the Republicans in the Senate. And now, Kevin McCarthy leads the republicans as Speaker of the House. Sound familiar? This is exactly why I left the Republican party and became an independent. Republicans need to follow me. It’s the only way we can be heard.
Money
If a large majority of republicans leave the party, it won’t matter how much money the republican purse-holders spend for elections. They’ll be forced to spend their money enticing old republicans to vote for them instead of spending money against democrat opponents. In other words, they’ll lose to the democrats until they fix their party.
The problem is that the republican swamp machine gets money from big donors, lobbyists and special interest organizations. And, that’s why they are beholden to them instead of the republican people. That won’t be fixed. But, republicans can do their part and stop giving donations to the Republican National Committee (RNC) and directly to candidates. Any way republicans can “hurt the purse” will help.
Astonished
I’m astonished that republican leadership stayed exactly the same. How in the world is that possible after the midterms? I don’t hold Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy accountable. I hold every other republican senator and representative accountable. Nobody wanted the jobs. They were more content to leave the same failed people in the leadership positions than stepping up and offering an alternative.
I have a hunch though. I don’t think these decisions are made in the house and senate. You can always follow the money. I think the big donors, lobbyists and special interest organizations make the call. That’s why you don’t see people like Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Jim Jordan and even Matt Gaetz make a challenge. The swamp is rotten from the head down. And, I don’t see how that can change. It’s a systemic problem.
Side Notes
Here are some side notes from the ridiculous McCarthy speaker vote sham:
- Marjorie Taylor Greene has become the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of the republican party. The firebrand has become a McCarthy lapdog.
- President Trump needs a human resources consulting firm. Or, he needs new advisors. Or, he needs to shut up. McCarthy is a lapdog of Klaus Schwab. And, you know it.
- Lauren Boebert said she was going to tone down. That lasted about a day. You’re back to the Lauren I love!
- Fifteen votes and the same result. Can I please get a refund of my tax dollars?
- I don’t care what concessions were agreed upon. A leopard doesn’t change it’s spots.
- Let’s see who cut the biggest deal with McCarthy this week. My guess is it starts with a “T” and rhymes with “lump.”
Conclusion
The only change for the American people is that nothing changed. Just watch now as we get screwed over by another house speaker like Paul Ryan. It won’t be McCarthy’s fault. It’ll be the fault of all of the members of the house that didn’t have the stones to mount a real challenge. Nobody is going to drain the swamp. Not even the mighty Trump.
