What Pap Would Think
My guardian angel is my Pap. He was my grandfather, and we had a very special relationship. Allegedly, my Pap was mean when he was young. So, a lot of the family didn’t like him much. When I knew him, my Pap was ornery. I was ornery too, and that’s why I think we bonded. As I reflect on Pap’s life, I wonder what Pap would think about America in 2022. I don’t think it would be very good.
Work
My Pap worked the night shift in the steel mill cleaning up the residue from the furnace. It wasn’t great, but it put food on the table. In 2022 America, nobody would do such a menial job. Legal Americans insist on being paid top dollar. While illegal Americans take these kind of menial jobs. So, Pap would likely be out of a job in 2022. He would not be happy if he was replaced by an illegal alien.
Gender Nonsense
I know for a fact that my Pap knew the difference between a man and a woman. If his male neighbor stopped by and told him he wanted to become a woman, my Pap would have been on the floor laughing thinking it was a joke. Pap could be open-minded about a lot of things, but switching gender and having one billion type of genders doesn’t qualify. He would be shocked and disgusted.
Immigration
My Pap was a second generation immigrant. His parents came from Germany and England. They came to America the old fashioned way. Legally.
My Pap would be so disappointed by the endless border crossings of today. It is a slap in the face of every legal immigrant that came to America legally. In his wisdom, he would definitely call out the caliber of people entering the country. Anything goes when there are no controls.
Socialism
Our ancestors like my Pap’s parents came to America because it represented freedom and opportunity. Even though my Pap had a menial job, he could afford to own a nice house, a nice car and to put food on the table. That would be unlikely in our current America. And, I know he wouldn’t be happy. In fact, he would be downright angry.
Elections
My Pap never missed the opportunity to vote. He once told me that it was very important. But, when I think of voting today, I think my Pap would be very discouraged. I think he would want everyone to vote in person and without voting machines. I know he would hate vote by mail. And, he would definitely hate getting the election results days or weeks after the election. He is turning in his grave on this one.
Electric Cars
Really? My Pap would think they are nuts. He loved to take rides. And, I don’t think he would have liked charging the car. Sometimes, change is not a good thing. I honestly don’t think gas cars are a culprit in environmental issues. I think it is Air Force One and all the airplanes our Congress people use regularly. Sorry. I digress.
Conclusion
My Pap wouldn’t recognize America today. America is regressing when it used to be progressing. The Biden administration and the Democrats are destroying everything that has made America great. In just 17 months, they have brought America to it’s knees. I’m sure that’s why my Pap told me voting is so important. I wish he was still here with me. He would have wisdom that I need right now.
