What Happened to Delivery?

Lately, deliveries to my house have become unreliable. I installed a camera pointed to our front porch so I know when someone is there. And, sometimes that doesn’t even work. What happened to delivery? Are the delivery people too busy to do it right or are they being held to an unfair standard by their companies?

Hide and Seek

Sometimes finding my package is like playing hide and seek. The same delivery company will drop it on the front porch or the driveway or the back patio. How do I know this? Because I have come close to running over a package when backing out of the garage. And, I found a package on my back patio when I went to take out the garbage cans.

I would prefer if all of my packages were delivered to the front porch, but it doesn’t seem to matter if I add a note to that effect in the shipping instructions.

Drop and Run

This one really gets me. Since coronavirus, people delivering food drop it on the edge of the front porch and leave. They don’t ring the doorbell or knock. The food sits outside getting cold until I happen to look. Coronavirus is over. They need to return to ringing the doorbell or knocking. Unless they got lazy and their “drop and run” is the new normal.

I always tip twenty percent for food delivery. But, I’m going to stop if they don’t improve it. Or, I’ll stop ordering food in altogether.

One Chance

I ordered a SIM card because I had to change my cell phone carrier. The new carrier notified me that the SIM card would be delivered next day free of charge. When I was in a work meeting, I saw a notification that a person came on to my front porch. The person did not ring the bell. After my meeting, I went to pick up the package and there was a slip of paper for me to sign so they can leave the package on my front porch when they tried again.

I checked the rest of the day and nothing. I checked all of the next day and nothing. So, I did “track your package” and learned it wouldn’t be delivered for two more days. My overnight delivery turned into four days. That is bad customer service.

Just For Fun

Just for fun, here are the reasons it’s Biden’s fault.

  • The delivery trucks are electric and they have to charge them ten times a day.
  • The CDC told food deliverers that “coronavirus is over” is Russian disinformation.
  • Biden loads the boxes on the delivery trucks, but gets lost trying to find the trucks.
  • The FBI raids the trucks because they believe the boxes hold secret government documents from Trump.

Conclusion

I can’t imagine how much worse this is going to get during the Christmas season. The deliverers are going to be in such a hurry, they’ll probably drop it in the lawn by the street. I have to wonder if this is just happening to me or everybody. Maybe my Trump doormat is causing this. I sure hope not, but I wouldn’t be surprised. To that I say, too bad. I’m buying more cameras to catch them.
