What About the Plastic?

Last modified date

I had to buy a new spreader last weekend to put fertilizer on my lawn. Ace Hardware had two models. A tiny broadcast spreader that I would have had to refill about 20 times and a larger broadcast spreader that I purchased and refilled 3 times. It cost me $80. And, almost the entire spreader was made of plastic. And flimsy plastic. As I was driving home, I thought to myself that I thought the Democrats are worried about the environment. So what about the plastic?

Straws

Some restaurants have transitioned to paper straws

At a lot of restaurants now, they have replaced plastic straws with paper straws. Panera Bread comes to mind. I guess the thinking is that paper straws are biodegradable. It doesn’t really bug me much. But, shouldn’t the spreader be made of something other than plastic then? How about metal like they use to use? Then maybe it would be worth the money and last longer.

Which is worse for the environment? A plastic straw or a plastic spreader?

Cars

This one gets me. The Democrats are pushing electric cars. Have you looked at our cars lately? The bumpers are plastic and there is plastic throughout the interior. Are they such boneheads that they don’t think about this? They tell us we need electric cars to eliminate fossil fuels.

And guess what is used to make plastic. Coal, natural gas and crude oil. So what is the gain? I honestly think the Democrats are completely stupid beyond my wildest dreams. People like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez don’t know that one and one is two. They preach to us without thinking anything through.

Shopping Carts

The last time I went to “woke” Target, the shopping carts were plastic and the little baskets were plastic. Remember when shopping carts used to be metal. Are these plastic carts good for the environment? Sometimes I see a shopping cart on the side of the road. They don’t look like they are “biodegrading.”

Clothing

Synthetic fabrics such as nylon, polyester, spandex etc. are all derived from plastics. Can somebody please inform Ocasio-Cortez that her “Tax the Rich” dress was made from plastics? I’m sure she has no idea. So, I wonder what this means. Do we ditch our clothes and go around naked? I’m sure Ketanji Brown Jackson’s kiddie porn defendants would like that.

Final Word

If Ocasio-Cortez and John Kerry are our environmental specialists, we are in a world of trouble. This is like putting Will Smith in charge of peace negotiations.
