The New Uncatholic Church
I have been a Catholic my entire life. I go to church every Sunday except when I’m sick. During the church lockdown, I watched mass faithfully on television every Sunday. I have always valued what the church teaches and I have read a good deal of the Bible. I’ve also been very involved in church ministries. And, I firmly believe in the protection of life, including the protection of innocent unborn children. The Catholic church has always been by my side in these beliefs. But the new Uncatholic church has deserted me.
Vaccine Hypocrisy
I called my church today to request a religious exemption for the coronavirus vaccine, and I was told they were not granting exemptions. I know the coronavirus vaccines contain aborted fetal tissue. To have that injected into my body sacrifices everything I have ever believed and been taught by the church. I hear the lame argument that it’s no big deal because the vaccine uses old aborted babies. But, it doesn’t matter. It’s still aborted babies.
Why has the Uncatholic church tossed aside all of their teachings on this? It leads me to believe that their abortion stance has been a total deception my entire life. In the past five years or more at my church, no priest has ever addressed abortion in a homily. A deacon addressed it once, and he eventually disappeared. It’s always about the money. And, I’m sure they don’t want to turn off the people in the church who support abortion when they shouldn’t.
My Temple
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
This says it all. The Bible tells me to honor God with my body. That means don’t inject evil into my body. Joe Biden proclaims to be a Catholic, but I question his dedication to his faith and whether he has ever read the Bible. If he’s a true Catholic, he should not be mandating that believers must do something that is against God’s wishes.
But, this goes a step further. Now, Pope Francis and the majority of Bishops have decided that it’s just fine for me to desecrate my temple. And, it has filtered down to my own church. Is it also acceptable now to be a drug addict? Is it acceptable now to be an alcoholic? How about masturbation? Is that acceptable now?
I was taught to refrain from succumbing to sin and temptations when it comes to my body. Ephesians 4:27 says not to let the devil get a stronghold in your life. The vaccine gives the devil an open invitation.
The Terrified Priest
I have known a young priest his entire life. When he was in Catholic school, he was a tremendous debater and writer. He was an avid pro-lifer, and he won debates and awards for his essays on abortion. We were all so proud when he became a priest because we figured he would carry those views into the priesthood. Then one night, my wife shared a social media post from him where he advocated very harshly that people should get the vaccine.
I wonder what happened to him. I don’t think he got the Jedi mind meld. This is a great example of how fear can cause you to sacrifice all of your beliefs. But, that fear doesn’t give you the right to use your platform to tell others what to do. That’s overreach.
Lockdown Madness
My church was closed for over one year. The Bishop excused parishioners from their obligation to attend mass. I don’t know why my Bishop allowed this to happen. It was a time when I needed God more than anything. The Uncatholic church, who is supposed to be separated from the government, allowed the government to dictate if and when parishioners can worship. The Uncatholic church didn’t even put up a fight.
There were a few churches that continued to offer services, and they didn’t even require a mask. I don’t know for sure, but I don’t believe any coronavirus cases were reported. The Uncatholic church needs to recognize this bravery in the face of fear and evil. These are genuine Catholics who put their belief in God over their submission to the government.
In Jesus’ day, people were afraid to get close to people who had leprosy. But, Jesus walked right into their community and got close to them. He even allowed them to touch him. Jesus wasn’t scared of them and he wasn’t scared for himself. He didn’t leave and close off the area from others. And, he certainly didn’t wear a mask. He had faith in God and helped people who desired his presence. If only the Uncatholic church followed this example.
Conclusion
It would be easy to say I’m going to stop going to church. But, that would be letting the devil and evil win out. Clearly the devil has already infiltrated the Uncatholic church. I’m going to do just the opposite. I’m going to sit down in my pew right next to the devil and pray against him. And I’m going to make him try to force me out of there.
I’m not scared of the devil because I’m honoring God with my decisions. I know God will win in the end, so I want to fight with Him. I have no idea what more is going to happen, but I know it will get worse before it starts getting better. Unfortunately, this is a holy war, and it’s going to go on for a while until we get the devil out of our church.
“There is nothing from without a man that entering into him, can defile him. But the things which come from a man, those are they that defile a man.” (Mark 7:15)
I see more and more Catholics talking about the “evil” and “tainted” vaccines as if the shot itself somehow contains evil in it. That’s like saying a hamburger on Good Friday is evil. But it’s not tainted with sin, it’s just a thing, matter cannot be good or evil in itself…what you do with it, and your intent, is where evil comes into the picture.
The most common vaxes are the mRNA ones, not the J&J one you linked to, and they don’t contain any fetal tissue. They did make use of the HEK-293 cell line for testing (Pfizer) and initial development (Moderna), though not in production.
Using these cell lines for testing/development is absolutely wrong, but the Church, and practically all Catholics for that matter, have been virtually silent for the last 40+ years, until use of these cell lines is ubiquitous in medical research. Researchers test practically every medicine we take, and even a lot of flavorings in foods, on this cell line. It’s wrong in every instance, and has been for decades, so I’m curious…why is the Covid vax suddenly the hill we choose to die on, literally?
Iirc, the Church has stated 4 times in the last 20 years or so that when there is no ethical alternative, then a vax that has made use of one of these unethical cell lines may be used, if there is sufficiently grave reason to do so. At that point it’s a matter of conscience, using prudence to weigh the risks against the gravity of ‘cooperating with’ or benefitting from an evil act committed by others. That’s why a mandate is unethical, because it removes conscience from the discussion, but it does mean it can be morally acceptable to get the vax.
Assume Colt tested the guns they developed on the body of a man who had been euthanized 50 years ago without his consent, and when they were satisfied that the gun was effective they would begin production and put the body back on ice until needed for the next gun they developed.
If a hulking, armed intruder broke into your home to kill you and/or your family, would it be unethical to defend yourself with one of these guns, if that were the only weapon available, and you knew and disapproved of their testing methods? Or would you be required to rely only on your fists?
What I think personally, which matches what the Church has repeatedly said, is that it’s a matter of prudence. If I think the intruder is really a little girl with a stick, then it would be wrong to use the gun. If I think I can easily handle him with my Kung Fu, then again, maybe I wouldn’t use the gun. If I think there is a good chance of leaving my children fatherless, then I’d probably use the gun, viewing my remote and undesired cooperation with that immoral testing as proportionately less than the desired good of protecting myself and my family. I think my action in that situation would fall right into Aquinas’ principle of double effect, and would be justifiable.
