The Milgram Experiment
The Milgram experiment was a study that explored the effects of authority on obedience. It was conducted by psychologist Stanley Milgram at Yale University in the 1960’s. I believe the study was repeated by the government during the coronavirus pandemic.
Background
In the Milgram experiment, an authority figure ordered participants to deliver what they believed were dangerous electrical shocks to another person. The results suggested that people are highly influenced by authority, and highly obedient. Milgram was interested in researching how far people would go in obeying an instruction if it involved harming another person.
One person was a “teacher” and one person was a “learner.” The teacher was in one room with an electric shock switch. And, the learner was in an adjacent room strapped to a chair with electrodes. The learner was given a list of word pairs to memorize. Then, the teacher would name a word and ask the learner to name the partner word. Every time the learner is incorrect, the teacher administers an electric shock to the learner. Then, for each missed response, the teacher increases the level of shock.
The learner gave mostly incorrect responses. When the teacher got to the point that he wouldn’t deliver the shock, an experimenter would prod the teacher to continue.
Two thirds of the teachers continued to the highest level of shock. All teachers continued to two thirds of total shock.
The conclusion was that ordinary people are likely to follow orders given by an authority figure, even to the extent of killing an innocent human being. Obedience to authority is ingrained in us all from the way we are brought up.
People tend to obey orders from other people if they recognize their authority as morally right and/or legally based. This response to legitimate authority is learned in a variety of situations, for example in the family, school, and workplace.
Coronavirus
The coronavirus pandemic was a repeat of this experiment in real time.
Masks
Would “learners” wear masks even though it was well known that they did nothing to stop the spread of coronavirus? The “experimenter” (King Fauci) coerced “teachers” (businesses, churches, schools, etc.) not to let “learners” into their establishments unless they wore a mask. And, it worked. Even to the point that “learners” would threaten other “learners” with physical violence if they refused to wear a mask.
Lockdowns
Would “learners” remain in solitary lockdown for an extended period of time although it was well known that lockdowns had no effect on the transmission of coronavirus? The “experimenter” (King Fauci) coerced “teachers” to do everything remotely. And, it worked. Jobs transitioned to remote work. “Learners” went to church online. “Learners” did distance learning. And, “learners” were content to have no socialization with other “learners.” Most important, “learners” had no way to disobey the lockdown order.
Social Distancing
Would “learners” stay six feet from other “learners” even though there was no evidence that it prevented the spread of coronavirus? The “experimenter” told “teachers” to lay tape every six feet in their businesses and strictly enforce that “learners” must stay in their lanes. Churches had to close off pews every six feet. And, it worked. Most “teachers” obeyed and kept “learners” separated from each other. And, some “learners” even threatened other “learners” if they invaded their precious coronavirus space.
Vaccines
I saved the most onerous for last.
Would “learners” allow the government to inject an experimental vaccine into their bodies even though coronavirus was no different than a cold for most and other treatment options were available? The “experimenters” (King Fauci and the government) did an all out assault on America to get the vaccine. And, it worked on about two thirds of the “learners.”
The “experimenters” used scare tactics, mandate attempts, celebrity endorsements, advertisements, and anything else they could think of to prod “learners” to take an injection that wasn’t really needed. They even tried to take away freedoms from the “learners.” This result was about the same as Milgram’s result of maximum electric shock.
Conclusion
The American “people “learners” were guinea pigs in a coordinated experiment. And, the result was that almost all of the “learners” obeyed as desired. The “learners” who didn’t obey will be targets in the next experiment. The “experimenters” are tickled to death that this experiment went so well for them. And, I’m sure they’re happy that the “teachers” obeyed as well.
The result of this experiment does not bode well for the future. Once the “experimenters” know that people will cede their freedoms, they will come back for more. And more!
