So, What Makes Neil Young Right?
I am was a huge Neil Young fan. But now Neil has decided to join in our cancel culture and have a fellow entertainer cancelled. Why would Neil do this? Because he claims that his fellow entertainer is spreading disinformation about the coronavirus. So, what makes Neil Young right? Is he now a doctor or medical professional?
Publicity Whore
I have to get this out of the way first. Neil Young has been a publicity whore forever. Young is a 76 year old washed up entertainer from Canada (socialism). He is irrelevant now. But, he is the type of person who will do something destructive to get attention. Lynyrd Skynyrd included a verse in the song “Sweet Home Alabama” as a backlash to Neil Young’s song “Southern Man.” And Young loved every minute of it.
By the way, he probably already started writing a song about why he is so right about this.
Disclaimer – I know this is giving the “Old Man” exactly what he wants, but I can’t help it.
Ohio?
Is this the same Neil Young that penned the song “Ohio” in 1970? That song was about a Vietnam War demonstration at Kent State University where the Ohio National Guard opened fire killing four students, paralyzing one and wounding eight others. He was so appalled that he wrote the song.
But Neil is living in a new “Ohio” now. He’s the one trying to suppress information which will result in the deaths of people. Maybe I should write a song about that. Or maybe not. The publicity whore would covet it.
Two Sides
There are two sides to every coin. Neither of the sides is always right and neither is always wrong. Just because Neil Young decides that another entertainer is wrong doesn’t make that person wrong. Every person is entitled to her/his opinion. And, every person can decide for herself/himself what to listen to and what to believe. We don’t need Neil Young telling us what to do. I think Neil Young has joined the political establishment. And, I think those Kent State students are throwing up.
