I watched a documentary about Barry Sanders on Prime recently. He was a running back for the Detroit Lions from 1989 to 1998. Although Sanders was a superstar, the Lions were perennial losers. When he got tired of losing, he retired early from the NFL. His retirement was a complete surprise to everybody. The Lions never surrounded Sanders with winning talent. To that end, President Trump should hang it up for the same reason.
Losers
President Trump is the leader of a losing team. Some of his team members include Mitch McConnell, Ronna McDaniel, Lindsey Graham, Dan Crenshaw and about 100 confused representatives in the house. They’re confused because they don’t know if they are Republican, Democrat or a space alien.
Given a majority in the House of Representatives, the Republicans have twiddled their thumbs for a year. They have no idea how to play as a team to win. Colorado representative Ken Buck voted for someone he hates just to hurt Jim Jordan’s chance to become Speaker of the House. This is reminiscent of the team Trump will have to play with.
Of course, if Trump walks, he doesn’t have to play with losers.
Talent
When Trump wins in 2024, he’s going to have a huge dilemma. Who should he choose for his vice president and cabinet? Is there anybody out there that he can trust? Is there anybody that won’t stab him in the back? It doesn’t seem to matter when Trump gives someone an opportunity. Almost all of them turn on him. Just look at former Attorney General Bill Barr. He has been very critical of Trump since he left office.
Trump will need to do extensive background checks and have his vice president and cabinet nominees sign a non-disclosure agreement. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can be trusted. Trump also needs to have a team of people do extensive social media investigation on anybody being considered.
Of course, if Trump walks, he doesn’t have to worry about any of this. And, he doesn’t have to worry about ungrateful jerks stabbing him in the back.
Uphill Battle
President Trump will face an uphill battle after he wins in 2024. The people who hate him will do anything and everything to destroy his presidency. Just like his first term, they will try to divert him with fake accusations and impeachments. Remember the Russia hoax. It dragged on for three years while Trump was in office.
The Democrats and Republicans (Yes, Republicans) will do the same thing in his second term. In fact, it will be one hundred times worse. They will make his life as miserable as possible. This is why Trump needs to surround himself with fighters who will go to battle with him. Other than Matt Gaetz, I can’t think of anyone who is up to that challenge.
Of course, if Trump walked, he wouldn’t have to deal with this craziness.
Assassination
Finally, there is a high probability that President Trump will be assassinated if the Trump-haters can’t stop him from winning in 2024. Some unlucky idiot will let the FBI coerce him or her to pull the trigger. Sadly, the liberals will dance with joy if this happens. The liberals are some of the ugliest people on the planet. Rotten on the inside and hideous on the outside.
Of course, if Trump walked, he would be safe.
Conclusion
Just like Barry Sanders, President Trump is stuck on a losing team that refuses to surround him with good talent. Are their any Republicans that Trump can truly trust to be on his team? I can confidently say I doubt it. I was amazed at how many people turned on Trump in his first term. These people make Benedict Arnold look like a team player. It can’t continue. He should walk now.
But, he won’t because he cares more about the country than himself.
