MTG, Boebert and Trump
What in the world is happening to me? Just a couple of months ago, I loved MTG, Boebert and Trump. Of course, MTG is the nickname of Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. And, Boebert is Lauren Boebert of Colorado. And, Trump is President Trump. Now, I find myself in an entirely different situation. I lost trust in them.
MTG
Marjorie Taylor Greene thinks she is too important. She is backing Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House. But, she is throwing her weight around telling her peers that they should back him too. This is very uncharacteristic for her. Usually, she falls on the right side of the “America First” constituents. Her big thing is that McCarthy has plans for committee assignments and investigations. In fact, she claims that his plans are the most aggressive for Republicans in a very long time.
The problem is that she hasn’t been in Congress long enough to remember John Boehner and Paul Ryan. Like them, I fear that McCarthy will not do what he says once he gets there. I’m sorry, but we have been burned time and again. If that happens, and it’s quite likely, MTG will have some serious egg on her face.
I’m pretty sure I know where Greene is coming from. She is very eager to get on a good committee after being removed from committees by Nancy Pelosi. And, McCarthy has probably promised her a good committee assignment in exchange for her support. If my hypothesis is correct, that is ugly Washington politics at it’s worst, and she should be ashamed. It’s not a good look Marjorie.
Boebert
Lauren Boebert won her re-election by a slim margin. So, she declared that she would return to Washington with a new found softer approach. What a wimp. She won our respect by being a firebrand and calling out “DC swamp” shenanigans. And, she wasn’t afraid of the radical liberals like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Now she has a great opportunity with the radicals in the minority, and she decides to be a sheep. That’s a horrible decision that she will regret in the future.
Trump
I am officially off of the Trump train for 2024. I have grown tired of the name calling. More importantly, I hated his idea of selling “baseball-like” trading cards of himself for $99 each. I’m happy for him that the cards sold out in less than a day, but it just more of his ego issues. Steve Bannon agrees with me. He reacted by saying “Anyone involved in the project ought to be fired today.”
I’m just not feeling the love for the absolute best president in my lifetime. I’m not saying I won’t go back, but he needs to attack the bad policies of Biden and focus on his supporters and their needs. People will donate money. They don’t need silly trading cards. Please be presidential and stop the cutesy stuff.
Conclusion
These three Republicans need to re-think their strategies. As they say, you spend a lot of time earning trust, but you can lose it in a moment. And, it takes a long time to earn trust back. To me, these three lost the trust and better start earning it back. Otherwise, the voters will support people they can trust in the future.
