I’m Dreaming of a Right Christmas

Last modified date

Christmas isn’t the same. In 2020, it was pretty much cancelled. And in 2021, it’s downright dismal. Right now, evil is winning in the world. Even my annual watching of “White Christmas” didn’t quench the stench. It’s not the government or King Fauci or now President Trump, it’s the millions of non-elderly Americans who blindly follow inconsistent rules over basically the flu. Your obedience is ruining our holidays. For me, I’m dreaming of a right Christmas next year.

Christmas Mass

Christmas mass was the most depressing mass I ever attended

Christmas mass was the most depressing mass I have ever attended. Hardly anybody was there. The church was dark. The priest looked like he didn’t want to be there. There wasn’t anything special. It was like any other mass. I didn’t sense any excitement from the people that were there.

This is supposed to be one of the most holy celebrations of the year for Catholics. Instead, it was the epitome of the state of the Catholic church. This is the church Pope Francis longs for. This is what you get when the bishops and the priests abide by every unscientific rule without question. And, this is what you get when everybody is afraid of each other and can’t even say Merry Christmas with a hug or a handshake after mass.

Jesus is disappointed in all of us, including me. And, I’m sure God isn’t happy either.

Do Something

The Catholic Church needs to do something and do it soon. If this is how things are going to be, you are going to lose a lot of parishioners, including me. The church is a place where you go to feel good. Especially in today’s world, I want to go to God’s house and feel lifted. I know what you will say. God helps those who help themselves. That is true, but it’s hard to do when everybody, including the priest, is downtrodden.

The Catholic church needs to get past this. They need to set an example. They need to do what they are there to do. What they are serving right now is not hope, it’s surrender. If I was a church leader, I would be telling the priests to have faith in God and stop worrying about the coronavirus. I would tell them to make God’s house a place of joy and hope. If the priests demonstrate faith, hope and joy, the people will do the same.
